50 years ago, on November 9th, 1975, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald left Superior, Wisconsin on a beautiful and unseasonably warm autumn day carrying 29 men and 26,116 long tons of taconite. It was to be the Fitzgerald’s last run of the season before putting up for winter repairs, and it was to be Captain Ernest McSorley’s final run before retiring to spend time with his wife.
The crew was aware of an inbound storm due to roll in overnight, but no one had predicted how two storm fronts, one from the southwest and one down from Canada, would clash over Lake Superior, causing what would be remembered as one of the worst storms of the century. McSorley was respected as one of the best captains on the Great Lakes, a heavy weather sailor who knew how to handle storms. McSorley rarely opted for cautious leeward routes but as this storm began to unfold he chose to keep close to Isle Royale and the Ontario shore. Our last communication from them was a message from McSorley to fellow freighter Arthur M. Anderson at 7.10 pm.
“We are holding our own,” they said.
It’s haunting to know that at this very moment fifty years ago they were probably in great spirits in good water, bringing the ship back on the last run of the 1975 season, looking forward to spending the winter at home.
Tomorrow, on the 50th anniversary of the sinking, the Detroit Mariners’ Church bells will ring 30 times — once for each of the souls lost to the lake and once for Gordon Lightfoot, who brought a somber remembrance and immortality to them all.

There's this whole story unfolding on TikTok right now about this account that got popular — a woman in the US who calls up churches & pretends to have a starving newborn that hasn't eaten since last evening & asks them if they could help her out with a can of formula. Unsurprisingly, none of the ridiculous megachurches actually ever say yes, and the churches & other religious institutions that did say yes are getting lots of support from people.
But I just saw a video of a TT user explaining that they decided to do their own little social experiment — by walking up to drug dealers on the street, telling them there's a young woman with a baby who needs help with formula, and literally all of them immediately reached into their pockets. In this story, the OP did have a real neighbor with a baby who ended up getting some much needed baby supplies. Thanks to the charity of local drug dealers.
A lot of Americans are learning that their rich white Christian churches are less willing to help their communities than black churches, mosques, buddhist temples, the satanic temple & apparently also crack dealers.

I gotta say though, getting off to clothes is completely normal like. Sometimes a piece of clothing just gets you excited. It doesn't mean there's something wrong with you or something, you just find a particular kind of clothing hot. Everyone gets like this. If someone says there's not a single piece of clothing that seeing themselves or someone else in is hot, they're a fucking liar.
If you're transfem, getting aroused in a dress or skirt is just like. Normal. It might be just the excitement of getting to do something you've been banned from, it could also be a fetish. Doesn't matter. Both are normal. Same goes for cis men honestly. Same goes for anyone I know some cis girls that get off to wearing skirts. This goes for anyone with anything really. Clothes can be hot. It's chill.

what they don’t tell you about using a website consistently for over a decade is that you’ll have multiple internet friends you’re pretty sure have died but you’ll never know because they never gave their full name. their blog is like a monument and mortuary, a snapshot into their thoughts and a time where they could still think them. either that or they’re fine and they’re no longer into Gorillaz or whatever.
but also sometimes I think I’ve lost a friend/mutuals and then a blog I’m following posts a selfie and it turns out they’ve been there the entire time but they’ve transitioned, changed their name, changed their URL and changed their content. a long forgotten caterpillar emerging from their chrysalis.
